kin forest camps
camps consist of day long drop off sessions in the school holidays offering nature based exploration, rooted in the forest school approach, giving children the chance to connect to themselves, each other and nature. we blend nature based learning and free play to aquire new nature based skills and ways of understanding the natural world.
in keeping with the forest school approach, activities unfold in response to interests of the children and needs of the group as well as what is happening seasonally.
nature based skills, crafts, stories, songs & games are supported and guided by qualified and experienced facilitators with training and experience in ‘forest school’, nature connection, holistic baby & childcare and childhood development.
this is all held within a self-contained private woodland where the children really have the space to be free and access deep play and learning which is a rare thing to find in london.
our kinfolk
all of our kinfolk are trained ‘level 3’ forest school trained, 8 shields, children’s forest, paediatric outdoor first aiders and hold current DBS certificates.
kin offers continual professional development on our workshops and trainings and our team trips.
we are committed to offering quality provision and we live and breathe our work.
each camp is one bubble with mixed ages.
5:1 trained facilitator ratio plus a trainee facilitator.

food & funding
we are currently exploring a funding opportunity which will not only support the funds for our subsidised places that we currently offer through our forest pot but will mean we can offer fully funded funded places for those who need it and food for everyone on our forest camps moving forwards!
this is all part of our mission not only to enable access for all but to create sustainability for the future as we know our work in reconnecting people to the natural world is vital for health, wellbeing and the future of our planet.
there are various criteria we have to fulfil on the camp itself to be eligible for this funding which we have trialled and are now working to roll out across future camps.

‘my son has attended two of the forest school camps and has loved every minute. as a child who had to be "strongly encouraged" to go to school, he bounds out of bed with enthusiasm and waits by the door on forest school days. on collection every day we were met with the biggest smile, and a happy, tired, grubby face. the team are full of love and kindness and create magical, gentle, nature-focused activities in a nurturing environment that all children seem to thrive in. highly recommended.’ kate flurry (kinship parent)

we have places available for a parent/grandparent volunteer on our camps in exchange for a child place. this is an invaluable opportunity to get insight and experience firsthand what happens at one of our camps and gain some solid experience working as a part of an incredible team within this context. we would like to be able to give this to someone who has a genuine interest to learn about what we are doing.
all information about volunteering can be found here.
