many of the occassions we know today, such as ‘halloween’, ‘easter’ and ‘christmas’ have their origins in ancient celtic festivals. these were celebrations amongst communities of people who were in close relationship with the natural world and who knew their survival was dependent on it.

about the gathering:
kinship in nature are holding a private gathering for our kinship and like minded families on wanstead flats (supported by city of london, wombles charity & the wren group) to honour our journey — and to mark a threshold. after years of long-term sessions, as kin grows into its next chapter, focusing on adult training and a wider campaign to bring nature connection into the heart of how we learn and grow. it feels only right to pause, gather, and give gratitude before we step forward.
what are we planning?
a community picnic and collective litter pick supported by the city of london and the wombles trail, a permaculture labyrinth, an kinship art piece (led to by local artist and kin graduate), singing & merriment.
kinship in nature are deeply committed to ensuring access for all and continue to provide financial support through our forest pot across everything we offer.

gather with us as we celebrate the peak of autumn and winter’s beginnings, drawing on the ancient celtic festival of ‘samhain’.
samhain is the ancient celtic festival and origins of Halloween. it's the final of the three harvest festivals honoring the season's abundance and the life-death cycle that feeds all life. the intention behind these gatherings is for people to come together and remember these old traditions that were about honouring nature and the seasons.
this is aimed at families but can be enjoyed by adults and children alike.

gather with us on ‘may eve’, to celebrate the peak of spring and very beginnings of summer, drawing on the ancient origins of the celtic nature-based festival ‘beltane’ (meaning ‘bright fire’) among the trees with storytelling, live music, crafts, fire, ceremony and festivities. this point in the year marks the arrival of summer and the lighter half of year.
