nature connection weekend

we had the pleasure of holding a 'nature connection/8 shields' weekend again at our site in april 2024 with anna richardson from the children's forest and jack durtnall. such a wondrous time was had ~ understanding the natural cycles of day night, the seasons across the year, human and plant life from conception to death, dream journeying with plants, playing games, mandala making, witnessing a fox hunting a wood pigeon, listening for bird language, singing under the crescent moon - to name but a few of the very many experiences that were had. it was a truly, special, inspiring, heartening and connective time together.

🍀

for the past five years, we have been integrating nature connection practice into what we offer at k.i.n under the guidance of jack who has extensive experience with the 8 shields/nature connection movement in the uk and has been mentored by pioneers, including jon young himself, of this movement. we feel very grateful to the lineages of indigenous peoples cross-culturally, and in particular the san bushmen, lakota, apache, mohawk, haudenosaunee confederacy, akamba, odawa, dagara peoples from which this 8 shields lineage stream has been sourced, who have been practicing these skills for years and for those such as anna and jack who are passing on and sharing these ancient skills and wisdom with such integrity.

“this was a vital, moving and powerful experience; needed more than ever in our disconnected world and vulnerable climate. giving you tools to go deep, move with gratitude and tune in.” ~ reflection from one of the participants

“what i want to say is being at this weekend is a gift for existence that will impact the way i live and be and i really wish that more and more people could receive your teachings and sharings because it really would make a better world. it was so clever how you weaved in all the attibutes from the 8 shields throughout the practices this weekend without us really knowing it until the end. i will try and continue all of them. the balance of fun and depth was incredible. thank you.” ~ participant reflection.
