our story

kinship in nature is a female founded project connecting local londoners with nature.
our weekly groups began in 2017 and we have had over 300 families on these long term sessions. it is through these sessions that the positive wellbeing benefits of regular time in nature impacted our kinship and its founders inspiring our growth.

we now also offer opportunities for adults including workshops, first aid training, forest school leadership level 3 training and fully funded traineeships.

a big dream

it is with the empowerment of knowledge and first hand experience of the impact our work has had on ourselves & participants, that we strive to connect people with nature not only to nurture people's wellbeing but to protect the planet and create a sustainable future for generations to come. we believe being nature connected is not only essential as a foundation for healthy childhood but for everyone’s wellbeing, especially when living in a city like london.

positive social impact

outreach and engagement with the local community is central to the work we do and it is imperative to us that our provision is accessible, inclusive and represents the diversity of the community we work within. we give assisted bursary places (45% off) across everything we provide for those who would otherwise be unable to access it. our traineeship is a fully funded opportunity for adults to gain a qualification to facilitate forest school who would otherwise be unable to train in this field of work.

feedback from participants can be read on our
google reviews.

innovation

our vision includes nature connection being made accessible to all. we believe by offering this provision in one of the most deprived boroughs in london (newham), we can potentially enable its benefits for those who are in the greatest need.

we have created the first fully funded traineeship in the uk for people to train in forest school. this means more practitioners will be trained to provide forest school which enables a more widespread provision for children to access. it is also an opportunity to gain a qualification in this field of work for adults who would otherwise not be able to access this training.

we are currently working on a ‘forest school for all’ campaign to further inspire and enable other settings, including mainstream schools, to offer their own forest school provision.
